What’s new in Rivals

Every update to the iOS beta. Follow @Board_ly for the play-by-play.

  1. Proof, Pro and a proper welcome

The biggest update yet: proofs your whole group votes on, a new welcome that shows how Rivals works, Rivals PRO, and live stats.

    New
    • Proofs with group voting: see who voted, how many yes votes are still needed, and change your vote. A no can come with an anonymous reason.
    • A new welcome: racing avatars round a track, how it works, and adding your first rivals.
    • Join public challenges straight from Explore and land in the chat.
    • Interactive stats: head to head, consistency and a week chart with your goal line. Press and drag to scrub.
    • Rivals PRO, with its own screen and plan management.
    • A colour of your own, from your photo or one you pick, tints your avatar everywhere.
    • Help & support with in-app problem reports, and account deletion.
    Improved
    • Your widget and Live Activity update from Apple Health in the background, even when the app is closed.
    • Mute a chat to silence its banners and evening nudges.
    • A full emoji picker with search and categories.
    • Bigger tap targets and better layouts at the largest text sizes.
  2. Friends first

Home opens on your friends. Explore replaces For you, and invitations get a carousel of their own.

    New
    • Friends is now the first feed, and Explore replaces For you.
    • Invitations get their own carousel.
    • A challenge overview sheet, reachable right from the feed.
    • Leaving a challenge tells you when it counts as conceding.
    Improved
    • The chat groups messages, with quiet system lines.
    • Pick your birthday on a wheel.
    Fixed
    • A daily challenge counts from when it started, not from midnight.
    • Apple Health sync could stop reading steps.
  3. Badges that land

Unlocking a badge is a moment now: it rattles, drops and lands with a burst.

    New
    • Badge unlocks with a burst of sparks.
    • Leave a challenge from the ••• menu.
    Improved
    • Invitations show up first on Home.
    • The create sheet is only as tall as the step you’re on.
    Fixed
    • Health challenges were tracked as manual, so a whole week could read as 2 steps.
    • A day without data no longer counts as a failed Health read.
  4. The whole app, on iPhone

Every screen, rebuilt natively for iOS with real Liquid Glass: widgets, feed, profile, challenges, the create flow and settings.

    New
    • Home screen widgets, the feed, profiles, challenge details, the create flow and settings.
    • Screen Time challenges track automatically.
    • A new app icon and real Liquid Glass throughout.
    • Haptics when you win, commit or change a value.
    Improved
    • Works offline: cached screens, messages that retry, and a create flow that picks up where you left.
    • Full Dynamic Type, VoiceOver labels and Reduce Motion support.
    Fixed
    • You can no longer be your own rival.
  5. Hello, iPhone

Rivals starts its life on iOS: the design system, the app’s foundations and onboarding.
